I am almost through and I am surprised every other page (actually every other minute, I am listening to the audio book) how spot-on this book is for people like me who find themselves in a transition from a IC (individual contributor) to a design team leader. Julie Zhou (Product design VP @ Facebook) describes in her book “The Making of a Manager” how she learned on her years-long path “what to do when everyone looks to you”.
While reading I have already learned a lot about giving feedback, team setup, hiring, 1:1s, interviews, staying positive and much more. I actually found this resource so inspiring and trust-worthy that I’ve tried out what she suggests with my team. I really enjoy verifying her ideas and can say some things have worked for me, for others I need find my way.
